Attestation, Comparison and Legalization

The Cultural Attaché Office (CAO) in London attest the awards issued by the UK and other European education providers for Omani citizens and those foreigners that apply to work or live in Oman.

How to apply for verification and attestation

The Ministry of Higher Education Research and Innovation (MoHERI) requires all applicants to submit the requests online through the E-portal (called ASAS) to the link:

https://eservices.moheri.gov.om/Student/StudLogin.aspx

The CAO receives the applications electronically via the E-portal. There is no need for the applicants to visit the premises of the CAO or to contact the office directly via email or telephone. The process can only be completed online.

When a complete file for attestation is received through the E-portal, the CAO will contact the institution/s to confirm the content and details on the certificate/transcript/letter etc.

Once the education institutions verify the document/s (time frame is typically 2 to 10 weeks), the CAO will then prepare the file and approve the attestation in the E-portal of the MoHERI.

The process might take longer if the university needs to access their archives to verify the awards.

Legalization of the documents

The Cultural Attaché office DOES NOT stamp documents.

Those who require legalization of the documents can use the service of Apostille. The Apostille is an official government-issued certificate added to documents so they will be recognised when presented in another country. Typically the Apostille Certificate is issued by the state from which the document originates, although in some cases, another state can issue the Apostille.

The Sultanate of Oman is a member of the Hague convention of countries.

The Ministry of Higher Education Research and Innovation in Oman does NOT require the service of Apostille.

Ratification of School documents

For guidance about the legalization/ratification of school documents (pre-university level) issued by a UK provider (only), contact the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in London via e-mail at visaoffice-london@fm.gov.om

Grade Comparisons

The CAO enables comparisons of grades from UK and European qualifications at undergraduate and postgraduate levels to international counterpart awards in close cooperation with Ecctis and other ENIC bodies across Europe.
