Travel preparations

Every student must:

  • ascertain that the admission documents to the relevant educational institution are in his possession;

  • secure accommodation through an accommodation office at the university or any other accredited agency;

  • notify the Cultural Mission of his arrival time within ample time;

  • make sure that his passport is valid for six months, at least;

  • keep his Civil Number at hand for easy reference when necessary, especially in case of loss of passport;

  • avoid carrying big amounts in cash in excess of £1000 (it is advisable to use credit cards);

  • make a note of contact numbers of the Mission, especially the emergency number;

  • check the visa and the details recorded on it;

  • choose the visa appropriate for the type of his study;

  • read the student manual and the residence and study-related laws, including the Scholarship Law, very carefully;

How to obtain the visa?

The visa laws in the UK change every now and then. Therefore, students should contact the British Embassy or Consulate and access their website before commencing travel procedures. Students’ passports must be valid for a period of at least six months; otherwise they must be renewed before applying for the visa. Always consult the embassy/consulate website and avoid seeking advice from other agencies.
